Our Founders
Ichirô Yamamoto (山本一朗) lives in the island of Hokkaido - north to the island of Kyushu in the south. Its majestic mountains make it one of the best traditional horse breeding areas. However, its cool and dry weather also makes it one of the driest regions in Japan.
Ichirô Yamamoto (山本一朗) living with his elderly mum in her 70s, owns a horse range. They produce some of the best horses in Japan. Mrs. Yamamoto suffered from very dry, tight and pigmented skin due to the cold and dry weather. Often, her skin might even crack in the harsh winter.
In the recent years, the Japanese develops a liking for Basashi (馬刺し) - horse sashimi as a delicacy in some parts of Japan. Mrs. Yamamoto will cut the horse meat into smaller portions and sell them to the sashimi bar restaurants. Coincidentally, she realized the skin on her fingers, palm and hands had improved tremendously and they no longer caused the painful itchiness. During the process of cutting the horse meat, the natural horse oil flowing out had moisturized and nourished her hands.
Ichirô Yamamoto (山本一朗) realized the differences too. He decided to work with his childhood friend, Tetsuo Itô (井島哲雄), who was working as a dermatologist in Osaka, making horse oil commercially viable to all people.
